Part 6 of 7
A SIGN OF WINE
Before moving on with how the Great Sabbath expectation became lost on most
Jews and Christians, I think the “number of glasses question” should be
addressed. To do so, first we must examine Exodus 6:6-8, since a glass is drunk
during Passover Seder for each of the first four things that God did for
Israelites, and in some households they drink for five:
“I will bring you out
from under the burdens of the Egyptians;
“I will rescue you
from their bondage;
“I will redeem you
with an outstretched arm and with great judgments;
“I will take you as My
people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God
who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians;
“I will bring you into
the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob;
“And I will give it to
you as a heritage: I am the LORD.”
Perhaps Prophet Elijah will not mind if I, the humble scribe, render my service
to offer an opinion for resolving this matter: Wine, according to the
sacrifices, is symbolic of blood, in which is life. Thus, wine must be drunk
during the Pesach meal as a sign of the blood of the lambs’ shed during
Passover for Israel’s salvation. It is forbidden in the Torah to drink or eat
actual blood, which purveyors of the blood libel propaganda conveniently
ignored, so the sacrificial lives given for those who are saved are
symbolically taken in through wine. What is perceived in the sacrificial wine
is a substitution of life. The Egyptian firstborns were slain by Death, but the
firstborns of Israel were saved. By the blood on their doorposts, houses of
Israel would be saved from the Messenger of Death. This was a sign of the
national House of Israel and House of Judah being saved by the blood of God’s
Lamb, while the heart-hardened worldly people will be surrendered to Death
during the coming Apocalypse. So the salvation extends beyond the Exodus of
Israel to a global redemption of the elect.
Each cup enigmatically represents one millennial day of God’s works in bringing
His Salvation throughout the world, for all who will hear until the end of the
age- all six workdays of the week. After the crucifixion- after it the Temple
of God destroyed- four millenniums had passed, and therefore it was correct for
believing Jews to share four full glasses of wine, even for almost one thousand
years. Since c. 1030 AD it has been correct for Jews to share five cups, with
five millenniums fulfilled. As of c. 2030 AD it will be correct to share six
cups, with all six millennial days fulfilled. During the Great Sabbath a sixth
cup should be set for the Messiah, for His fulfilled historical works in the
six millenniums since Adam. When the Kingdom of God comes, the Pesach will be
kept by way of Messiah.
Then
He said to them [Jewish disciples], “With fervent desire I have desired to eat
this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat
of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Then He took the cup, and
gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I say to
you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
“This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new
covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:15-20) NKJV; intrpl.

Now
here is the thing: Many Jews only drink four cups, for Salvation explained in
the Word of God they did not accept beyond four days, that is, beyond the cross
of God’s Lamb. So the Jewish people have waited for Elijah to proclaim the
Messiah and the great redemption of Israel, leaving him a fifth cup to drink and
a quest to deliver many truths, which means he comes after five complete
millenniums from Adam (on the 6th day and just before the Great Sabbath). So
Jews, not all, but as a people, have not ascended beyond the 4th day in the
Divine plan to receive the Brit Chadasha of the Messiah, although covered by
the blood according to their words and the will and wisdom of God. Thus, with
the passage paralleled to the wine, we perceive key words correlating
highlights of each day of biblical history since Adam and Eve, which, according
to will of the Holy Spirit, looks into the future:
The Lord will bring us
to paradise, from under the burdens of the Earth, back to the garden, whereas
Adam was brought in but expelled and given to harsh toil.
The Lord will rescue
us as in the day of Noah, when those who were bound in sins perished in the
flesh.
The Lord will redeem
us with an outstretched arm during His world judgments, as in the day of Moses
and the Exodus. The Lord will reveal Himself to Israel, that all may know He is
the Lord, as in the fourth day of Yeshua- to break the yoke of spiritual
oppression.
The Lord will bring
His people home, as during the fifth day when His people began to trickle back
into the land of their ancestors’, just as Christians have been brought to the
Lord since the day Kefa was commissioned to the Gentiles.
And in this millennial
day, which is the sixth, Jews have been given possession of the land for an
inheritance, and others will soon be ingathered for inheritance with the
restoration of all twelve tribes.
So
we drink to the works of our God, and we lift five glasses to those who were
given great foresight of spiritual truths and began such things, though they
knew not exactly what the Spirit meant. To reiterate and make it plain: If Jews
do not believe that Yeshua is their Moshiach, then let them drink only four
cups and continue to await Eliyahu HaNavi, for they shall remain in the
glorious past. For Jews who leave open doors to their hearts rather than merely
their houses, let them openly drink of the Elijah’s cup in great celebration of
Yeshua Messiah and redemption for a world which today sits on the edge of utter
destruction. Either way, the Truth will be known and all the prophecies will be
fulfilled. Either way, the Messiah will drink of the final cup of works when
the Kingdom comes as it is in Heaven.
If
Jews think it is right to exalt Prophet Elijah, and in their eschatology they
allow for the Tishbite to come more than once to the world to fulfill his
works, or perhaps even float about throughout the ages as some living specter
of corrections, then let it be judged between them and God why they resist the
second coming of Messiah to fulfill the spiritual season of harvest, as the
Former and Latter Rain to the Earth. Does the Messiah not have much more to
fulfill from Scriptures than His humble servant Elijah? Sadly, I wonder if God
will even let this mystery register in their hearts, so much are the
disappointments of religion pride.
Who
is to say that Jewish leaders of today will recognize Messiah or his harbinger
servant Elijah? Perhaps Elijah will be rejected, too? Perhaps Elijah will find
the ageing excuse that Yeshua did not fulfill all messianic prophecies to be
evidence of their hypocrisy. He may ask what right the rabbis have to make
prohibitions and decide the identity of the Messiah- who is or is not the
awaited King- seeing that they confess that revealing and anointing Him is
Elijah’s role, and yet trivial things of traditions are left to the prophet to
decide, “Until Elijah comes…” Again, Elijah will not side with any Jew who
rejects Yeshua HaMashiach, for his works and allegiance belongs solely to God,
to glorify the Great King in the world-not to be a national icon whose Divine
metaphysical employment (or punishment) is but to watch fleshy circumcisions.
Would a job of overseeing the circumcisions of Jewish hearts’ not be more
appropriate? Perhaps Elijah will find many of the rabbis to be like the foolish
and the simple sons, who do not respect or believe the scriptural things of
God, and who do not discern what they should be asking and learning.
Nevertheless, I speak in generalities, for God loves the offspring of Israel,
and the Spirit teaches His elect as He pleases.
Many rabbis teach a prohibition of Moshiach arriving on a Sabbath, since the
walk from Jerusalem to Jewish leaders will be too far according to religious
laws. Regarding the Sabbath, they also argue over whether the Nazarene Messiah
can then drink wine, since they do not accept that Yeshua of Nazareth- being
called a Nazarene- fulfilled the prophecy. Yet they fail to perceive that it
will be a Day known to the Lord- not humans (cf. Zech. 14:7). The Messiah will
indeed arrive on a Sabbath, as known to God. No man or woman has lived for a millennium
and thus no man or woman has known a Great Sabbath- only known about one. Thus,
as written, “The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” The Day of the Lord
is the Sabbath, in which all the prophets explain His coming, and Messiah will
not plead before any supreme council for their belief. He will drink His wine
when He pleases. Teaching this prohibition of Messiah arriving on a Sabbath
only serves to obscure the messianic theme of Scriptures, at least for those
who heed such assertions.
